The BBCC model

Steering B2B growth: Brand, Business, Contact under Control.

The BBCC model assigns every growth measure to exactly one of three layers: Brand (perception and trust), Business (structures and revenue mechanics) and Contact (customer contact and closing). Control is the governance and decision layer above all three, not a fourth dimension of equal rank. It governs steering, responsibility and approval. Especially when AI is part of the work: Control first. Then autonomy.

Why a model

Not more tools. More connection.

Marketing alone does not create growth. Sales alone does not either. Most companies do not lack ideas, tools or expertise. What is often missing is the connection: What do we want to achieve? Which decision moves us forward now? Who takes responsibility? And how does strategy become execution?

There is also new pressure. According to Bitkom (press release of 14 September 2026, survey of 603 companies with 20 or more employees), 57 percent of companies in Germany use AI and another 38 percent are discussing it. At the same time, nine in ten companies see themselves only at the start with AI. If you want to gain speed now, you need order: who decides what, and on what basis?

The model

Three layers and a control layer.

Every measure belongs to exactly one layer. Control sits above all three.

Brand

What do we stand for, and why us? You can invest thousands of euros in branding and still stay interchangeable if you cannot explain in a few sentences why customers should buy from you. Maybe your story has long been stronger than your marketing. You just do not tell it.

  • Positioning
  • Story
  • Authority

In practice: Start with the promise, not with colours and fonts.

Business

Does our structure hold when we grow? More orders are not automatically growth. Sometimes they only show faster where your company already hits limits today. Scaling therefore does not start with more leads, but with the question whether the structure carries.

  • Offer
  • Processes
  • Pipeline
  • KPIs

In practice: Clarify responsibilities and processes before you raise the budget.

Contact

How do we reach the right people? In B2B a lot is promised, and too often the customer has to guess who delivers in the end. Reach is only worth something if it gets to the right decision makers. That goes for social media as much as for sales and for the expert network THE Orange Gate.

  • Channels
  • Lead flow
  • Sales

In practice: Count qualified conversations, not followers.

Control: steer first, then autonomy

A good idea comes quickly. What matters is what happens next: who takes responsibility, who approves, how do we recognise impact? Control turns an idea into a decision path that stays traceable. AI prepares and recommends. The responsible person reviews, approves or stops, and carries the responsibility.

In practice: Decide in advance what AI may prepare and what only people may approve.

Two levels of view

Methodology and architecture are not the same.

Methodology: the growth model

The BBCC model is a way of working. It assigns measures to the three growth dimensions Brand, Business and Contact and uses Control to define who steers, reviews and approves. It works independently of software and is applied in consulting today.

Architecture: the governance layer of the software

For the planned growth platform, Control is intended as an overarching layer with roles and permissions, traceable approvals and an audit trail. This describes the planned architecture, not functions that are already available.

AHI: AI + Human Intelligence

AI accelerates. People decide.

AI can make experience available exactly when a process or decision needs it. The precondition is that the relevant knowledge is identified and people know how to work with it.

Brand

AI: drafts, variants, research.
Human: stance, tone, promise.

Business

AI: analysis, forecasts, prioritisation.
Human: priorities, investments, risk.

Contact

AI: preparation, segmentation, follow-ups.
Human: relationship, negotiation, closing.

Control over all three layers: AI supplies logs, warning signals and reports. The human approves, carries the responsibility and can stop.

20 years of experience are a company asset if they belong to the company and not only to one head.

Where we stand today: The growth platform is in planning. The architecture is worked out, the technical development (MVP) is planned. Available today are the growth diagnosis, the model as a fractional CMO and the expert network THE Orange Gate.

Apply it

How to apply BBCC in three steps.

  1. ClassifyAssign every running measure to exactly one layer. What cannot be assigned is a candidate for cutting.
  2. Find the gapWhich layer is weakest? That is where the bottleneck is, not where most budget flows.
  3. Set ControlDefine owners, approval levels and metrics before AI takes on more.

The fastest way in is the B2B growth diagnosis with a 90-day plan. The process is shown on Approach.

Frequently asked questions

Short answers.

What is the BBCC model?

The BBCC model assigns B2B growth measures to three layers: Brand, Business and Contact. Control sits above all three layers as a control layer and governs steering, responsibility and approval.

What does the second C in BBCC stand for?

The second C stands for Control: the governance and decision layer above Brand, Business and Contact. It is not a fourth dimension of equal rank and governs steering, responsibility and approval, especially when AI is used.

What does “Control first, then autonomy” mean?

People must first be able to steer, review and stop. Only then does AI get more independence.

What does AHI mean?

AHI stands for AI + Human Intelligence: AI accelerates, people decide and take responsibility.

How do I apply the BBCC model?

In three steps: assign measures to exactly one layer, recognise the weakest layer as the bottleneck and set Control before AI takes on more.
